PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the degree of fixation of a pile head joint even without the application of unbonded treatment, and to perform a proper design depending on a decrease in the degree of the fixation. SOLUTION: In this design method for the pile, the specifications of a joint material are set; allowable bending moment Maof the pile head is evaluated; an angleθof rotation of the pile head in the action of the allowable bending moment Maon the pile head is computed by expression (1-a); rotational stiffness Kθis computed through the use of the angleθby expression (2); generated bending moment Mθis computed through the use of the rotational stiffness Kθ; it is determined whether or not the bending moment Mθsatisfies expression (4); it is determined whether or not the allowable bending moment Mais excessively larger than the generated bending moment Mθ; and it is determined whether or not allowable bending moment Mpaof the pile 5 is excessively larger than bending moment Mp.
