PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica- and/or carbon black-containing rubber composition of which the interaction of silica and carbon black is enhanced and the breaking property, wear resistance, and low heat build-up are improved and which exhibits good workability; and a tire using the rubber composition. SOLUTION: The rubber composition is prepared by adding, at the time of compounding, a condensation accelerator to a modified polymer prepared by reacting a hydrocarbyloxysilane compound with the active site of a polymer having an organometallic type active site in the molecule, wherein the hydrocarbyloxysilane compound is a specified compound.
