<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a reverse current generated when a fuel cell is restarted. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell 10 is provided with a flat cell 50, and a separator 34 and a separator 36 are arranged on both sides of the cell 50. The cell 50 has a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 20, an anode 22, a cathode 24 and a reverse current suppression layer 60. The reverse current suppression layer 60 is arranged between the cathode 24 and the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 20, and the whole of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 20 is covered with the reverse current suppression layer 60. The reverse current suppression layer 60 is formed of a proton conductor low in proton conductivity as compared with that of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 20 in a low humidification state where humidity is lower than that in power generation, and exhibiting proton conductivity similar to that of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 20 in a humidification state in power generation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
