A pulse radio receiver not needing re-setting of the threshold for reception synchronization, judging the direction and amount of adjustment of the synchronization even if the signal strength varies, and having a shortened pull-in time of the synchronization position. The receiver comprises a detect (104) for creating a detection signal (105), a synchronizing waveform generating section (160) for generating a reference waveform signal (111), a delay section (161) for generating delayed waveform signals by delaying the reference waveform signal (111) with different delay times, a correlation computing section (162) for parallel generating correlation value signals representing the correlation values between the detection signal (105), and the reference waveform signal (111) and its delayed reference waveform signals, a judging section (163) for generating a difference detection signal (141) representing the direction and amount of the phase error from the magnitude relation corresponding to the combination of the correlation values represented by the correlation value signals, and a synchronization control section (142) for generating a control signal (143) for controlling the phase of the reference waveform signal (111) according to the difference detection signal (141) and outputting the control signal (143) into the synchronizing waveform generating section (160).
