Provided is a vibration isolator having a conical sliding frictional surface which is easy to manufacture, can remarkably increase a supporting area when sliding friction occurs, and has various force-displacement loops. A first frictional surface disposed at a central portion and formed having one of a horizontal surface, a concave spherical surface, and a concave conical surface and a second frictional surface disposed at a circumference of the first frictional surface and formed having a concave conical surface are included in at least one of an upper surface of a lower member and a lower surface of an upper member of the seismic isolator having conical sliding frictional surface to form a conical sliding frictional surface having a portion in which a slope of a surface changes at the center of the first frictional surface or at the boundary of the first frictional surface and the second frictional surface. A bearing block assembly comprises a rotating block installed to be rotatable about the upper member or the lower member based on a location being contacted with the conical sliding frictional surface; and a variable shape friction unit connected to a surface of the rotating block facing the conical sliding frictional surface and moved back and forth or left and right while coming in contact with the conical sliding frictional surface to make a shape of a surface to be deformed according to the shape of the conical sliding frictional surface facing the rotating block due to a weight of the upper structure when being mounted on the portion in which the slope is changed.
