PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp driving device that can enhance the lifetime of a discharge lamp.SOLUTION: A discharge lamp driving device includes a discharge lamp driving part for supplying driving current to a discharge lamp having a first electrode and a second electrode, and a controller for controlling the discharge lamp driving part. The driving current has a first AC period and a second AC period for which AC current is supplied to the discharge lamp. The first AC period comprises a first polarity period for which the first electrode serves as an anode, and a second polarity period for which the second electrode serves as an anode. A plurality of first unit driving periods are continuously configured, the length of the first polarity period being larger than the length of the second polarity period in each of the first unit driving periods. The second AC period comprises a plurality of second unit driving periods, each second unit driving period comprising the first polarity period and the second polarity period and the length of the second polarity period being larger than the length of the first polarity period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
