PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical fiber preform, capable of suppressing damage in a manufacturing process.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an optical fiber preform comprises: the step S11 of preparing a molding including a glass rod, a glass powder, and a binder for bonding the glass powder; the defatting step S13 of heating the molding at a first temperature at which the binder is removed in a chamber; the hardening step S14 of heating the molding at a second temperature higher than the first temperature in the chamber; and the clear glass formation step S17 of heating the molding at a third temperature higher than the second temperature and capable of bringing the glass powder into clear glass.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
