PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head capable of suppressing the enlargement of an effective track width without reducing magnetic field intensity and suppressing nonuniformity in track width. SOLUTION: A main magnetic pole includes: a pole tip 1B having a part for regulating the recording track width; and a yoke part retracted in an element height direction from a floating surface. The pole tip is composed of the pole tip 1B_T at a trailing side with the large width in a track width direction and the pole tip 1B_L at a leading side with the small width in the track width direction. The throat height Th_T of the pole tip 1B_T at the trailing side is made larger than the throat height Th_L of the pole tip 1B_L at the leading side. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
