A traffic manager unit (1) comprising a first unit (3) which is configurable in that it performs a traffic management function chosen from a plurality of traffic management functions, a second unit (5) which is configurable to store one or more parameters of the traffic management function, wherein the first (3) and second (5) units are connected such that the first unit (3) accesses the second unit (5), extracts at least one of the parameters of the traffic management function, and uses the at least one parameter to perform the traffic management function.
