An earthquake detector (8A) for detecting earthquakes, including: at least a first (34A) and second (34B) motion sensors, distanced (58) one from the other, each sensor for producing a signal (56a, 56b) of seismic movement; a comparator (50), for comparing the signals (56a, 56b) one to the other; and an alarm, for being operated once the signals (56a, 56b) exceed a threshold, and the comparator determines that the signals (56a, 56b) are substantially equal and simultaneous, thereby preventing alarms upon local motion. |
