PURPOSE: A field emission display and manufacturing method thereof is provided to sustain wider gap(more than 1mm) between front and rear substrates and obtain high aspect ratio. CONSTITUTION: The present invention discloses a field emission display comprising: a front substrate and a rear substrate(1); anodes(6) and cathodes(2) formed in X-Y matrix pattern on inner surface of the substrates to form unit pixel; plural micro-tips(2') disposed on the cathodes; an insulation layer(3) having holes corresponding to the micro-tips; gates having openings corresponding to the holes; and spacers(8) disposed in non-pixel area except the unit pixel. The spacer is a solid cylinder type. On the inner surface of the front substrate, wells(17a) which one end of the spacers are inserted into are formed.
