<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar lighting system having improved light utilizing efficiency by storing a polarized laser light, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The planar lighting system 10 comprises a laser light source 11, and a light guide plate 16 for injecting the laser light 17 emitted from the laser light source 11, from an end face portion 16c, and emitting it from one main face portion 16a. The laser light 17 is injected from the end face portion 16c at an angle of inclination to the other main face portion 16b opposed to one main face portion 16a of the light guide plate 16 and injected into one main face portion 16a with its light path changed at the other main face portion 16b, and emitted as an almost parallel light from one main face portion 16a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
