<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of selecting whether a precision serious consideration or a speed serious consideration in a density correction, thereby attaining a correction method suitable for the use, and to provide an image correction method, an image correction program and a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a correction control means which carries out a prescribed density correction to image data. In this case, the image forming apparatus includes: a selection means for selecting the priority for accuracy or the priority for speed in the density correction; a correction pattern forming means for forming a specific correction pattern to the paper medium when the priority for accuracy is selected and forming a specific correction pattern to the image carrier when the priority for speed is selected; and a detection means for detecting the density of the formed correction pattern.
