摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved radiation chamber shielding structure for an article irradiation system reduced in a cost, simplified in structure, reduced in a harmful radiation level and prolonged in a facility service life. SOLUTION: This article irradiation system is provided with a radiation source 10, a conveyor system 12 having a positioned process conveyer 24, and a wall part of a radiation shielding material 14 constituting a chamber 15. The radiation source 10 is arranged along a substantially horizontal axis inside a loop 26 constituted of one portion of the conveyor system 12. The article irradiation system is provided with an intermediate wall 16 of the radiation shielding material positioned along a lateral direction with respect to the axis within the loop 26. The intermediate wall 16 supports a ceiling of the chamber 15, restrains photons emitted from a beam stopper 40 disposed in a prescribed wall part 14A from colliding on at least one other wall part 14C of the chamber 15, and restricts a flow through the chamber 15 of ozone derived from the radiation source in a target region.
