A lithium secondary battery is provided to improve the cycle life characteristics even under a high cathode slurry density of 3.7-4.1 g/cc, and to realize high capacity. A lithium secondary battery(1) comprises: a cathode(3) comprising a cathode active material; an anode(2) comprising an anode active material; and a non-aqueous electrolyte containing a non-aqueous organic solvent and a lithium salt, wherein the cathode has a slurry density of 3.7-4.1 g/cc, the non-aqueous electrolyte contains a nitrile compound as an additive, a non-aqueous organic solvent and a lithium salt. The nitrile compound is used in an amount of 0.01-10 wt% as an additive for the non-aqueous electrolyte.
