PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam iron capable of safe ironing without leakage of water. SOLUTION: The steam iron comprises: a vaporization chamber 5 which is formed to a base 4 heated by a heater 3 and generates steam; a plurality of steam holes 6 for blowing off the steam; a water conveyance body (not show in a figure) for conveying water from a water tank (not shown in a figure) to the vaporization chamber 5; and a thermally-actuated opening closing valve device 9 which is disposed in the vaporization chamber 5, opens the water conveyance body only when the vaporization chamber 5 is heated equal to vaporization temperature of the water or higher, and passes the water. The vaporization chamber 5 is provided with a drip part 10 for dripping water and an exit part 11 for discharging the steam into the steam holes 6. First and second wall surfaces 12 and 13 alone divide between the thermally-actuated opening closing valve device 9 and the drop part 10 and between the thermally-actuated opening closing valve device 9 and the exit part 11 respectively. Thus, thermal sensitivity of the thermally-actuated opening closing valve device 9, the drop part 10, and the exit part 11 is improved, change in temperature in the vaporization chamber 5 is quickly followed to open and close a passage of the water conveyance body, so that the water does not leak.
