A method and a device for permitting a packet in a network image forming device having a plurality of network addresses are provided to perform operation efficiently and strengthen security by limiting packet transceiving according to a security level even if the packet has a valid network address. A packet validity checker(210) checks validity of a received packet. A security level checker(230) checks a security level of the packet received in response to a check result of a packet validity checker. A controller(250) performs task corresponding to the received packet in response to a check result of the security level checker.
