A position/orientation detection device is provided with: an imaging instruction unit that acquires an output signal from a sensor mounted on a device and instructs an imaging device mounted on the device to capture an image on the basis of the output signal; a mark reading unit that, from a mark included in an image captured on the basis of the instructions of the imaging instruction unit, reads position information and orientation information included in the mark; a relative position/orientation calculation unit that calculates the relative position and the relative orientation of the device with respect to the mark on the basis of the geometrical shape of the mark included in the image; and a position/orientation calculation unit that calculates the absolute position and the absolute orientation of the device on the basis of the position information, the orientation information, the relative position, and the relative orientation. The imaging instruction unit instructs the imaging device to capture an image when the output signal of the sensor has a shape that relates to the position of the mark. |
