PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine which can have a fuel injection valve and an ignition plug efficiently arranged and can be reduced in size even when the engine is an SOHC three-valve type cylinder injection internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A cylinder injection type internal combustion engine 4 is an SOHC three-valve type internal combustion engine in which a combustion chamber 36 is formed in a cylinder head 34 and a valve train 6 is provided for executing an opening and closing operation of an intake valve 42i and exhaust valves 42e through a single cam shaft 61. The combustion chamber is divided into four regions by a straight line X' that passes through a center of the combustion chamber and is parallel to an axis X of the cam shaft, and by a straight line Y perpendicular to the straight line X' at the center O of the combustion chamber, and the intake valve or the exhaust valves are arranged in three regions of the divided regions, respectively. The cylinder injection type internal combustion engine comprises a fuel injection valve 8 with a nozzle end 8a facing the combustion chamber, and an ignition plug 9 with an ignition electrode 9a facing the combustion chamber 36. One of the nozzle end of the fuel injection valve and the ignition electrode of the ignition plug is arranged in the remaining region of the four regions, and the other is arranged at the center of the combustion chamber.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
