PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sea-island fiber for pile yarn which has good spinnability and excellent straight-hair properties free of filament bending.SOLUTION: A sea-island fiber consists of a sea part composed of a sea ingredient and island parts composed of an island ingredient. The sea ingredient is an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, and the island ingredient is a thermoplastic resin having a melting point of 250°C or lower other than ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymers. The island parts are preferably arranged, at nearly constant intervals, at the center of the sea part and on the circumferences of concentric circles of the sea part. |
