PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a steering feeling by reducing the play of a steering wheel, even if slack is generated in a cable. SOLUTION: The cable type steering device 1 comprises a steering side cable pulley 14 rotating by interlocking with the steering wheel 2, a steering wheel side cable pulley 16 rotating by interlocking with a steering mechanism of steering wheels W, and a cable 20 wound around an outer diameter surface of the steering side cable pulley 14 on a first end side and wound around an outer diameter surface of the steering wheel side cable pulley 16 on a second end side. Steering operation inputted in the steering wheel 2 is transmitted to the steering wheels W through the cable 20. At least either one of the steering side cable pulley 14 or the steering wheel side cable pulley 16 is made to be a winding diameter variable pulley which changes a winding diameter of the cable 20 when the tension of the cable 20 changes, and absorbs the changing amount of the tension of the cable 20.
