<p>An apparatus and a method for driving an LED(Light Emitting Diode) illuminated display device are provided to cope with various curved surfaces by expanding a module and performing serial connection and parallel connection. An apparatus for driving an LED illuminated display device includes a main controller(200). The main controller(200) includes a clock/strobe synthesizing unit(210) which synthesizes clock and strobe signals with a power line(PWR) supplied in each LED module, and a control signal generator(220) which generates a control signal(SIG) set by a user through a program to control LEDs included in the LED module. Each LED module includes a clock/strobe extracting unit which extracts the clock and strobe signals from the power line(PWR) synthesized with the clock and strobe signals by the clock/strobe synthesizing unit(210) of the main controller(200), a shift register which sequentially shifts pulse bits of the control signal(SIG) by controlling an operation timing by the extracted clock and strobe signals and applying the control signal(SIG), and an LED driving unit which drives the LEDs by being controlled by the pulse bits sequentially outputted from the shift register. The operation timing is synchronized in the shift register by the clock and strobe signals extracted from the power line(PWR), and the LED driving unit is driven with a programmed method by a control data signal inputted to the shift register to control the LEDs by colors.</p> |
