PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrocarbon oil, which obtains a hydrocarbon oil having sufficient excellent low-temperature fluidity and a kinematic viscosity of ≥2.5mm<SP>2</SP>/s at 30°C and to obtain a hydrocarbon oil obtained by the method. SOLUTION: The method for producing a hydrocarbon group oil comprises fractionating a synthetic oil obtained by a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis method, obtaining an intermediate fraction comprising ≥90 mass% of content of a fraction having 150-360°C boiling point and ≤5 mass% of content of a fraction having ≥350°C boiling point and a wax component heavier than that of the intermediate fraction, bringing the intermediate fraction and the wax component into contact with a hydrogenation catalyst in the presence of hydrogen and mixing and fractionating the resulting components to give the objective hydrocarbon oil having ≥86 mass% of content of a fraction having 150-360°C boiling point and ≤5 mass% of content of a fraction having ≥350°C boiling point.
