An imaging/ spectroscopy device for analyzing a sample (10) using electromagnetic radiation in the terahertz region of the electromagnetic spectrum is provided. The device comprises a semiconductor substrate (2), the substrate comprising: a transmitter (3) comprising an extreme wideband generator for generating a signal with a very wide spectral content and a receiver (4) comprising a nonlinear transmission line (16) and a diode sampling bridge (15). The extreme wideband generator comprises a nonlinear transmission line (7).
