PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical-type new personal identification number setting mechanism with which a user can arbitrarily set a personal identification number of a press button lock. SOLUTION: Press buttons 2, 2 are arranged to have a cross-sectional pattern. By pressing down the selected press button 2, an unlocking cutout 4 is brought to the level same as that of a baffle plate 5. All of button shafts 3, 3 are formed to have the same length, and each of them is separated into a button shaft 3A integrated with the press button and a button shaft 3B having the unlocking cutout 4 with the cut surface crossing a longitudinal fixed position. The button shaft 3A has two cutouts and the button shaft 3B has one cutout, and they are guided to be movable in right and left directions in Fig.3. The length of the button shaft 3 is changed by changing the form of engagement between a stopping plate 26 having projections engageable with the button shafts 3A, 3B, and the button shafts 3A, 3B.
