PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, exhibiting excellent output characteristics and cycle life characteristics with high electrode capacity density and comprising an Sn-Sb based sulfide; and a method for producing the negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, by which the high performance negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery can be easily produced at a low cost without requiring a high temperature treatment process and a dedicated facility as in a glass melting method.SOLUTION: A method for producing a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery containing an Sn-Sb based sulfide includes a step of obtaining a precipitate of an Sn-Sb based sulfide by adding an alkaline metal sulfide to a mixed solution of a halogenated tin and a halogenated antimony. |
