PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition suitable for a liquid crystal display element, which prevents degradation in various properties as a liquid crystal display element such as dielectric anisotropy, bulk viscosity, nematic phase upper limit temperature, rotational viscosity γand voltage retention rate, and degradation in image persistence property of the display element, which hardly induces a drop mark during manufacturing the display element, which achieves a stable discharge amount of a liquid crystal material in an ODF (one-drop-fill) process, and which shows good solubility at a low temperature, and to provide a liquid crystal display element using the liquid crystal composition.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition comprises a compound expressed by formula (I), one or more compounds expressed by general formula (II-1), and one or more compounds expressed by general formula (II-2), and shows negative dielectric anisotropy. A liquid crystal display element using the above liquid crystal composition is also disclosed. |
