PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve miniaturization by optimizing a gate current being fed to a thyristor for bypassing a rush current restriction resistor thereby reducing loss. SOLUTION: A gate current inhibit circuit 9a permitting supply of a gate current to the thyristors SCR1, SCR2, SCR3 of a bypass circuit 5a at a start timing of positive half cycle of an AC input voltage for applying a forwrd voltage between the anode-cathode of the thyristors SCR1, SCR2, SCR3, and interrupting supply of gate current during positive half cycle of the AC input voltage after the thyristors SCR1, SCR2, SCR3 are turned on and negative half cycle of the AC input voltage following thereto is provided.
