PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life liquid crystal display device which uses a light emitting diode as a light source and includes such a highly reliable backlight that the light emitting diode is prevented from coming in contact with a light guide and thereby defective lighting of the light emitting diode is dissolved. SOLUTION: A plurality of light emitting diodes 5 are arranged in-line on the surface 62 of a circuit substrate 6 so as to face the light guide 4, and spacers 8 having a protrusion size HSlarger as compared to a protrusion size HLof the light emitting diodes 5 from the surface 62 are arranged adjacently to the light emitting diodes 5 on the surface 62 of the circuit substrate 6.
