PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce maintenance costs by suppressing subscription-telephone costs in a remote management system. SOLUTION: In the remote management system having a master unit 10 and a backup master unit 10a, a subscription-line IC chip 140 provided with communication-line information for a portable telephone is mounted so as to be alternately switchably connected with communication parts 124, 124a, which are for making communication with a center device 30 of the master unit 10 and the backup master unit 10a, via a switching means. By this, when the master unit 10 breaks down, the switching means is switched so as to switch the subscription-line IC chip 140 to the backup master unit 10a.
