PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material with oriented nanomaterials on its surface allowing narrowing of the intervals of the oriented nanomaterials to 10 nm or smaller. SOLUTION: A monomolecular film of a diacetylene compound is formed on a surface of a sapphire substrate etc. The film is irradiated with an electron beam or a metal ion, and a linear region in which diacetylene compounds are polymerized and oriented is provided in the film.
