PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current-limiting device that exhibits prescribed current-limiting effects during failures such as a short-circuit and a ground fault while ensuring the stability of a power system in which two power-supply bus-bars are connected. SOLUTION: A series transformer 11 is configured that a primary side 7 is connected to a bus tie between system AC bus-bars 4, 5 while a secondary side 8 is made as an excitation winding. The series transformer is connected with a current-limiting reactor 6 in series. The secondary side 8 is excited by an exciting circuit from an adjusting transformer 9 so that an inter-terminal voltage drop of the current-limiting reactor 6 in the normal condition is canceled with a both-end voltage of the primary side 7 of the series transformer 11.
