The method involves utilizing an ultrasonic wave as a transmitter, and determining the density of the fluid by the change of the acoustic characteristics of the sound beam, particularly the absorption and frequency spectrum of the ultrasonic in the fluid. The mass flow rate of the fluid is determined from the displacement of the ultrasonic frequency. The mass flow density by is determined by the multiplication of the density value and mass flow rate. An independent claim is also included for a device for the execution of the mass flow rate measuring method.
