The tool has a coating (30) made of a wear-resistant material, where the coating has a ductile metallic base material (32) with hard material particles (34). The base material is nickel or nickel alloy. The particles have a size between 50 nanometers and 500 nanometers, and the coating has a thickness between 0.5 millimeter and 6 millimeter, where the coating is applied on the tool in an electrolytic manner. A hard coating made of a synthetic diamond is applied on the coating, where the hard coating has a thickness of 50 micrometer. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a milling tool.
