PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus capable of deciding an image with a simple arithmetic operation, remarkably reducing expense in time and effort imposed on an operator for selecting images, resulting in reducing a communication cost. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus with a function of returning information obtained from a received image to a transmission opposite party includes: an image communication unit 108 for transmitting/receiving the image; an image evaluation unit 105 for specifying image characteristic information denoting a characteristic of the received image among a plurality of preset image characteristic information items; and a reception control unit 109 that compares evaluation information evaluated by the image evaluation unit 105 with the preset image characteristic information items, and controls communication with a transmitter side communication apparatus by the image communication unit 108 in response to the result of the comparison.
