<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a user from forgetting to turn off the power sources of various pieces of network equipment. <P>SOLUTION: This network management system manages shared equipment such as an image forming apparatus 101 connected to a network 2. A personal computer 201 executes a management program, and retrieves the image forming apparatus 101 whose power source is still supplied on a network 2. The retrieval result is displayed at a display device 301 of the personal computer 201, and location confirmation informing is transmitted to a management object selected by a user from it.
