PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material having high sensitivity and low fog, and to provide a technique by which digital image information can be recorded using the silver halide photographic sensitive material with high resolution and little degradation. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material has at least one blue-photosensitive layer, at least one green-photosensitive layer and at least one red-photosensitive layer on a support, has at least one layer containing silver halide grains having an average equivalent spherical diameter of≤0.35μm subjected to reduction sensitization, and contains at least one compound selected from the following type 1 and type 2 in that layer; type 1 is a compound whose one-electron oxidized derivative produced by one electron oxidation of the compound is capable of releasing one or more electrons with a subsequent bond cleavage reaction, type 2 is a compound whose one-electron oxidized derivative produced by one electron oxidation of the compound is capable of releasing one or more electrons after a subsequent bond formation reaction.
