Provided are a thermoelectric element and a thermoelectric module having a large temperature difference between both ends and having high thermoelectric properties. The thermoelectric element is a pillar-shaped thermoelectric element comprising one end surface and the other end surface. The piezoelectric element has a first area containing a center axis and a second area which is positioned on the outer side of the first area and which has a convexity protruding to the center axis. The first area and the second area differ from each other in thermal conductivity.
