<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overhead fan not providing an oppressive feeling to a residential space, having sufficient illuminance as a luminaire, and achieving improved performance reaching a floor surface. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The body 1 of the overhead fan is provided fixedly on a ceiling 2, and is so arranged that air currents blown out of more than one blower unit 14 composed of a fan 3, and a stabilizer 12 and a rear casing 13 respectively arranged to surround the fan 3 are joined together. The luminaire 5 composed of straight tube fluorescent lamps 15 arranged parallel to the fans 3 is arranged between the blower units 14. Thereby, it is possible to illuminate the residential space without providing the oppressive feeling to the residential space, and to ensure air volume to improve the performance reaching the floor surface.
