PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software management device for updating software without interrupting a cooperative operation in a system in which a plurality of computers cooperatively operate.SOLUTION: This software management device includes: an operating situation detection part 4 for detecting the operating situation of software; and an updating operation control part 5 for controlling the updating operation of input software. The updating operation control part 5 includes: an update object detection part 51 for, when determining that the input software should be updated, detecting a computer group as the update object of the input software; an update procedure generation part 52 for updating a preliminary machine in advance for each detected computer group as the update object, and for generating an update procedure so that the roles of the preliminary machine and the operating machine can be switched; and an updating operation commanding part 53 for determining whether or not a computer as the preliminary machine can be released from its stand-by mode in the activated state on the basis of the operating situation, and for, when the result of determination is positive, commanding the execution of the updating operation on the basis of the generated update procedure. |
