A method for diagnosing a wireless network performance, comprising: receiving, by a processor of an application node, a request to perform a wireless network performance diagnostic test that is initiated by a customer endpoint device; establishing, by the processor, a session with the customer endpoint device using a cookie sent by the processor to the customer endpoint device in response to the request; performing, by the processor, the wireless network performance diagnostic test in response to the request via the session using a packet generated by the customer endpoint device after the customer endpoint device acquires a lock, wherein the wireless network performance diagnostic test is performed by the application server node in a cluster of a plurality of application server nodes; and providing, by the processor, diagnostic test data gathered from the wireless network performance diagnostic test to the customer endpoint device and a service provider of a wireless network, wherein the diagnostic test data allows the service provider to determine whether an additional base station should be deployed at a location of the customer endpoint device based upon the wireless network performance diagnostic test.
