PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a periphery monitoring device for a work machine, capable of intelligibly informing an operator of the situations of ambient objects.SOLUTION: A shovel 60 includes an image generation device 100 as a periphery monitoring device for a work machine which generates an output distance image on the basis of an input distance image obtained by a stereo camera 6B attached to a revolving super structure 63.
