PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality image display device which has high reflectivity and a high contrast ratio and whose response time is shortened. SOLUTION: The image display device which has a plurality of charged particles between a pair of substrates and displays an image by movement of the plurality of charged particles has one substrate where pixel electrodes are formed, the other substrate which is arranged opposite the substrate and where a counter electrode formed, a plurality of partitions dividing the gap between the pair of substrates into a plurality of regions, and insulating layers formed on the pixel electrodes while having an insulation part and an opening part, and switches potential differences between the pixel electrodes and counter electrode to move the charged particles for image display.
