PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a test method capable of detecting oil separability of lubricating grease more accurately than hitherto, and a testing device for executing the test method. SOLUTION: A prescribed test pressure is applied to a test volume part 2 filled with the lubricating grease 27 as long as a prescribed test period 32, and the lubricating grease 27 in the test volume part 2 is brought into contact with an oil-absorbing or oil-separating element 11, and a change of the test volume part 2 is detected based on absorption or separation of oil 29 separated from the lubricating grease 27 by the oil-absorbing or oil-separating element 11 at the end of the test period 32. A time history of the change of the test volume part 2 showing oil separation is detected as long as the test period 32 so that the oil separability of the lubricating grease can be estimated more accurately.
