PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of novel displays. SOLUTION: An optical waveguide 30 is disposed on the back side of a character plate 29 so that a graduated ring section 41 of the optical waveguide 30 can be seen from the front. A graduated background plate 31 is disposed on the back side of the graduated ring section 41 of the optical waveguide 30 with a distance from the optical waveguide 30. A taper 43 is provided so as to get closer to the optical waveguide 30 as the graduated background plate 31 gets away from an index formed on the character plate 29. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
