A mobile device includes a user interface that has a plurality of non-password-protected desktop screens and at least one password protected desktop screen. The mobile device includes a touch sensitive display device that accepts gestures used to navigate between the desktop screens. Applications may be installed to password protected desktop screens.

A mobile device comprising: a secure element; a touch sensitive display device that allows a user to navigate between desktop screens using swipe gestures, the desktop screens including a plurality of non-password protected desktop screens and a plurality of password protected desktop screens, the plurality of non-password protected desktop screens and the plurality of password protected desktop screens displaying icons used to launch applications, wherein the mobile device analyzes each application being installed on the mobile device, and installs the application to a password protected desktop screen when the application uses services provided by the secure element when running; and wherein the mobile device prompts for user authentication when detecting a swipe gesture to navigate to any of the password protected desktop screens from any of the non-password protected desktop screens;
wherein the mobile device includes password protection to lock access to the mobile device, and the user authentication is different from the password protection used to lock access to the mobile device.
