PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter forming a laser pattern capable of coping with both of a short distance and a long distance. SOLUTION: This transmitter 10 uses a semiconductor laser diode 12 of one system, and a reflector 14 is disposed surroundingly the circumference in the laser beam irradiating direction, of the semiconductor laser diode 12. Reflecting mirror surface treatment is performed on a face 14a opposed to the laser beam, of the reflector 14, and the reflecting mirror surface 14a is constituted to reflect an outer peripheral part of the laser beam and to change the advancing direction to the direction forming the laser pattern for short distance. A lens 16 is disposed on a front face of the reflector 14, and a laser pattern for long distance is formed by changing the advancing direction by refracting the laser beam by the lens 16.
