PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a glow plug capable of preventing variation in coil lengths, of a heat generation coil in filling a sheath tube with an insulating material while applying ultrasonic vibration thereto. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing the glow plug comprises a process for connecting a coil tip portion of the heat generation coil 107 to a tip portion of the sheath tube 103, and filling the sheath tube 103 with the insulating powder 115 in a state that a coil basic end portion 107k is connected to a power distribution terminal 111. In this process, the insulating power 115 is filled in the sheath tube 103 while applying ultrasonic vibration to the sheath tube 103 while controlling an upper limit of a vertical position of the coil basic end portion 107k.
