PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impervious device which can be compactly housed, and which can block the inflow of water by being easily installed in an entrance of a subway and the like when a flood is predicted. SOLUTION: This impervious device comprises: a long water-swelling member 3 which is made by encapsulating water-swelling resin powder 5 into a bag body 4 with water permeability, installed on a ground surface; an impervious sheet 7 with water impermeability, which is erected in the upper portion of the water-swelling member 3 at such an angle as to be put into an almost perpendicular attitude; and a means for keeping a section between the impervious sheet 7 and the water-swelling member 3 watertight. A section between the impervious sheet 7 and the ground surface is sealed with the water-swelling member 3, and the water is blocked by the impervious sheet 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
