PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and correctly perform locking and unlocking operations, and a moving operation of a regulating plate. SOLUTION: A sheet feeder comprises movable regulating plates 19, 20 for regulating ends in the width direction of sheets on a sheet stacking stand 5, a regulating plate 21 for regulating rear ends in the feeding direction of the sheets on the sheet stacking stand 5, an operation lever unit 22 which is connected to the regulating plates 19, 20, 21 by a board member 23 to move the regulating plates 19, 20, 21 to each sheet regulation position according to the sheet size, and positioning means such as a cam 34, and lock pins 35a, 35b which are connected to the unit 22 by a connection member 31 to unlockably lock the regulating plates 19, 20, 21 at each sheet regulation position. The unit 22 unlocks the regulating plates 19, 20, 21 by the positioning means by moving the regulating plates to the sheet regulation position, and locks the regulating plates by the positioning means by completing the moving operation to the sheet regulation position.
